   SAFETY IN THE BASE CAMP OR FLY CAMPS:

  

  • ·      Operating areas where there is no acceptable local accommodation, it's necessary to provide camp facilities to house operation staff, crew and other contractor.

  • ·      Information for newcomers or visitors to inform them: -

1.      A place to park their vehicle.

2.       Office where to report their arrival and nature of their business.

3.       And who will brief newcomers or visitors on site rules, hazards and emergency response incase of a alarm.

4.       The person often designated the above duties of the camp boss or the medic.

·      A camp site should contain:-

1.      Fuel storage.

2.       Explosives and radioactive sources.

3.      Waste disposal pits.

4.      Food storage.

5.       Fire master point (equipped with all fire fighting equipments)

6.      Medical facilities.

7.      Electrical systems.

8.      Access around the camp.

9.      Security.

 PREVENTION OF FIRE

  • ·      Open fires in tents are not allowed.

  • ·      Cigarette butts must be properly extinguished.

  • ·      Respect “NO SMOKING” areas, fuel gas and battery stocks, and mechanic workshop.

  • ·      Label of all containers as to their content.

  • ·      Use caution when discarding oil and greasy Rags Non compatible petroleum products, creates a reaction that's generates heat.

  • ·      First-aid kit is equipped according to number of personnel, duration of occupation, location of station.

1.      Fire extinguisher.

2.      Fire blankets.

3.      Fire buckets.

4.      Warning bunting

5.      Warning signs.

PROTECTION AGAINST FIRE

  • ·      Extinguishers are gathered at different location in the camp.

  • ·      They should be used immediately to prevent the spreading of fire.

  • ·      Their use will be the subject of a separate training course.

  • ·      It must be noted that sand is good means to extinguish the start of a fire.

ELECTRICITY

  • ·      Only designated personnel are authorized to modify the electricity network.

  • ·      The electricity in the tents is intended only for lighting, pulling, cutting or hanging things on the cables is forbidden.

IN THE PREVENT OF AN ACCIDENT 

  • ·      Immediately alert your foremen.

  • ·      Each vehicle and each team is equipped with a radio to keep continuous contact with the base camp.

  • ·      The doctor is always available and we know where he is and how to contact him.

 

  • ·      All foremen and drivers will receive a first aid course, allowing immediate assistance in the event of an accident.

A seriously injured person would be evacuated to the nearest hospital by Air

  • ·      All accidents must be reported to the doctor, even small cuts that do not need attention. This information will be used to try to improve our prevention of such accidents, not to apportion blame.
